The Tale of Three Temptations

February 26, 2012

During this first Sunday of Lent, we are sacrificing something meaningful in observance of the sacrifice of Christ. Pastor Andrew takes us back to the temptation Christ experienced in the wilderness. Like us, Jesus gave up meaningful things for 40 days in order to increase His dependence on the Father, culminating in the temptations Satan threw at him at his weakest moment. We explore these temptations in this message, and see how they apply to our lives today.

Love is Sacrifice

February 19, 2012

Just as King David wouldn't offer to God what cost him nothing in 2 Samuel 24, Pastor Andrew asks that we consider how we love. Do we love sacrificially? Do we give of ourselves in ways that cost us? Sacrificial love is an essential part of our walk as Christians.

Loving Dangerously

February 12, 2012

Pastor Andrew talks about how we are to love without expecting anything in return. The evidence in our lives of love is the evidence of the change in our lives that Christ makes. We must have a practical expression of love because love prompts action. This is the love that opens us up to injury and heartache. Dangerous love is the kind of love Christ offered. It is the kind of love the world needs.

The Problem with Weak Sauce Christianity

January 22, 2012

God used His prophet Hosea to demonstrate the adultery of Israel. Despite their repeated unfaithfulness and betrayal of His love, the Lord's commitment to the covenant Israel had willingly entered into with Him was unchanged. However, this behavior would not go unpunished. God disciplined them by taking away the blessings He previously provided and sending them into exile. Pastor Andrew ties God's expectations of his people, the church, to the Israelites. It's a wake up call and a warning against disregard for our absolute indebtedness to God.

Are You Merely a Christian?

January 15, 2012

There's a difference between being a Christian and being a disciple. Being a disciple is actively following our Master and striving to be like Him. We are meant to be more than a Christian in name only, but we are to be like Christ in word and deed.

Extreme Makeover: Soul Edition

January 1, 2012 - Happy New Year!

Paul tells us that as Christians who are in Christ, we are new creatures. So why don't we start living like it?

Dolts, Dingbats and Dimwits

December 18, 2011

Pastor Andrew reminds us that God's thoughts and ways are so far above us, that we often don't understand the methods He chooses to use. From using an unmarried virgin to carry the Savior of the world, to allowing evil and ungodly men to crucify the Son, God's methods are sometimes baffling and always awe inspiring.
